The Fagowees has a general membership of approximately 250 to 350. Anyone can join the club, provided he or she pays the yearly dues. See the Join Us page for membership information.
The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the administrative arm of the club. It is comprised of 7 members elected by the membership to serve two-year terms. Every year about a third of the positions including President and Vice-President are open for election. Elections are normally held at the May membership meeting. Any member in good standing can run for a Board of Directors seat. The Board meets on a monthly basis on the second Tuesday of the month. The membership elects the Club Officers. The Board of Directors appoints annually a slate of Appointed Officials such as membership chair and activities/trips chair.
The Board of Directors Manages the Club's Day-to-Day Activities
The Board and Appointed Officials are responsible for related club activities. These include organizing the membership meetings, arranging for food, reserving meeting rooms, collecting membership dues, welcoming new members, publicizing the club and it's trips, overseeing the budget, filing federal and state tax returns, and promoting liaisons with other ski groups such as the Blue Ridge Ski Council. There are minutes to write and reports to prepare on finances, legal issues and club policies. The Fagowees currently manage an annual budget of approximately $100, 000. Board responsibilities are year round. Most Board members have been members of the Fagowees for many years and are happy to serve despite the sometimes long hours. The Board of the Directors enjoy great satisfaction in helping to keep the club going. They take pride in bring Fagoweeism and fun to the membership.
